IndigMEC is a meeting place for people around the world who engage in Indigenous mathematics education; teachers, parents, teacher students, master students and researchers.

The aim of the conference is for teachers and researchers to present examples that can contribute to the development of Indigenous mathematics curricula. This means contributions should relate to one of the conference’s main topics:

a) relations between culture and language,
b) Indigenous language issues in mathematics education,
c) mathematics education examples from work carried out with Sámi and Kven students.

It is anticipated that sharing mathematics education examples and ideas between Indigenous peoples will contribute to developing more informed reasons for how to develop Indigenous mathematics teaching into the future.

The conference will be arranged around plenary speeches, poster sessions, teacher presentations, paper presentations and round table discussions.

The Sámi parliament will be part of the conference regarding to ensure that mathematics education in school is based on Sámi language and culture.
